Trapped by ice!

I'm the first to admit that I don't get out much. I'm a writer. When I'm not working the parttime evil day job, I hole up in my writing cave and write. I can go days without traveling farther than the patio or the mailbox. But it's my choice.

Thursday night, bad weather moved into this part of the country. Freezing rain, sleet then snow. Not tons. But this is Arkansas. We don't get a lot of snow and ice so we don't have the equipment to clear streets. I started to go to the coffee shop on Thursday but the weather people were iffy on when the actual crap would hit the fan. I didn't want to get stuck in Little Rock.

Hindsight and all that stuff, I should have gone. I'm now officially going stir crazy. I want out of this house! I can't stand it anymore! The cats are driving me nuts. My dog, MeiMei, won't stay in the house if I'm in the living room or kitchen so I'm more or less confined to the bedroom or I have to let her freeze. Or lock the pet door and be at the beck and whim of nine animals.

I had plans today to have lunch with my sister, my mother and a friend. It was to be an early birthday celebration. Now, I'm not sure if I can get to Little Rock. Add the possibility of an unfulfilled promise of sushi to my bad mood.

Iz need sum wun to terrorize... *pouts* I keep trying to tell myself that at least I have power. It helps a little but not much. And yes, I have a new online name--Little Miss Cranky Pants!

How is your weather treating you?

Snow here in Baltimore with 14F degrees. The sun is blinding. And the car needs to be cleaned off. Ugh.

We got dumped with about 6 inches of snow yesterday, but it's not the snow keeping us in (DC is pretty good about clearing roads) it's the damn cold! Brrr!

Luckily we planned ahead and got groceries delivered day before yesterday so we're warm and stocked and enjoying a lazy weekend playing video games and laughing at the newest kitty who seems convinced snowflakes are bugs she could nom if only we'd let her outside. So she sits and mewls at them through the window instead. LOL

It's strange...when I can go out anywhere I want, I'm content (most of the time) to hang in at home. But if I'm snowed/iced in, I get stir crazy.

It's like being told I can't do something...then of course I HAVE to do whatever that is :)

Oh, poor Shayla, I feel for you :)usually I could say Savannah was glorious but alas, yesterday's 60 and rainy is today's sunny but chilly 38. No ice, snow, or rain though!

I'll be on aim later working on my first chapter of Ring of Lies, come join me if you get lonely for humans!

Poor, poor Shayla :( It's 60 here without a cloud in the sky. I'll send you some Texas weather if it would help. BTW, my coffee shop is open, right down the street and full of yummy caffeine.

I can definitely empathize. Day Three and I haven't left the house. I think I will have to venture out today. Maybe I'll slide downtown to the dollar store or grocery store or SOMEWHERE. I only have two animals pleading to go in and out. I can't imagine NINE.

Got out today! Yay! Nothing like a 4-wheel-drive vehicle to spring you from being housebound. We got 7 inches of snow here in Northwest Arkansas, but it was pretty and fluffly. Of course after shoveling the drive and the neighbor's driveway, my arms ache and remind me why I don't live in North Dakota anymore! Happy snow day

Being in your neck of the woods, I've been in the same boat--but at least I finished my novel and got some other writing chores taken care of. Tomorrow I'm flying the coop!

PS Loved the kitty pic--had to board Lady since I can't risk life and limb by walking her on the ice! She'll be home tomorrow!

Hiya, Anny! 14F is icky! At least it was around 30 here this morning. I think we managed to hit the high forties! And the sun was blinding but melted most of the roads.

Hiya, Fae! We didn't get that much in central Arkansas. The northern part of the state did--or more. LOL @ the kitty! Mine did not like the snow. I'm going to have to get out tomorrow and rake all the leaves that were protected by the eaves away from the house. They decided it was better to take care of business there instead of in that cold stuff!

Hey, Cyndi! And I think that's my problem too. Tell me I can't and just damned well want to! LOL

Hiya, Rachel! I managed to get out of the house after all! The roads were a little scary here and there but nothing I couldn't handle. I really didn't care where I went, I just wanted out of here! LOL

Hey, Allie! PFFFFFFFFTTTTTT! LOL It'll be back up in the 60s here soon. Arkansas weather, if you don't like it, wait a minute!

Shayla Kersten said...

LOL Brinda, yesterday I managed to get to the little grocery store here but I really didn't need anything. Just wandered around looking at the food and people. But then I had to come home! LOL

Hiya, Rasha! SOunds like DC has the white stuff under control. Arkansas just shuts down. We don't get enough snow to justify a lot of removal equipment. But they managed to get things pretty clear by today! Thank goodness!

Elle! Four-wheelers were all over the place around here on Friday and Saturday. Mostly doing donuts in the middle of the road and vacant lots. LOL And I couldn't imagine living in ND! Good thing you moved south!

Hey, Judy! Good going on being productive! I might have done better if I could have worked at my desk. Unfortunately, MeiMei was being a pill about going outside when I was in the living room. She was a stray I tricked into eating some drugged food so I could rescue her. She's never forgotten and never forgiven. She doesn't trust me anywhere between her and the exit! LOL I'll bet you missed Lady! Glad she'll get to come home soon!

I shouldn't complain when you people up north have so much snow and ice, but I live in Florida, and even though it's the panhandle, we just don't have cold weather like this. I mean, we'll drop down into the 20s for a hard freeze a couple of times each winter, but this sustained cold snap is way beyond the norm. We had a low of 32 last night, and it's supposed to be upper 30s tonight, getting a bit warmer as the week goes on. Our office is the coldest room in the house, and I'm wearing a glove with the fingertips cut out (a remnant from playing a hobo in "Annie" a few years ago) on my mouse hand because my fingers are freezing!

Auriette, I understand. I know people in Florida who don't even own coats. Why should they? You're lucky you have the Annie gloves. Although I'd love to hear more about that! LOL Sounds fascinating!
